NCAC’s GEAR UP Parent Program Coordinator will provide the following technical assistance and support to School District Staff:

Assist School District Parent Program staff with coordination of family involvement events. This will include but not be limited to assistance and support with the following:

  • Obtaining guest speakers
  • Event Marketing
  • Data Collection
  • Creating Student and Faculty Buy-in and Support
  • Planning a Successful Educationally Themed Family Event
  • Increasing Community Involvement
  • Provide Support and Assistance in the Planning of Parent Conferences

Provide Parent Involvement Educational Curriculum and Training in the Following Developed Modules:

  • Parent Teacher Conference 101: Preparing for and Surviving the Parent Teacher Conference
    Provides guidance to effectively engage in their child’s Parent/Teacher Conference
  • College Knowledge
    A basic introduction to college and other types of Post-secondary education
  • Helping Your Student with Homework and Test Taking
    Provides parents with the knowledge of different learning styles, how to create an environment for studying at home, and how to reinforce academic learning
  • Believe in Your Child
    Provide parents with the skills to communicate educational expectations and support post-secondary education for their child
  • Graduation and College Entrance Requirements
    Provides an overview of specific school district graduation requirements and how they align with college entrance requirements.

Develop and/or Assist in the Development of Additional Parent Involvement Educational Curriculum and Provide Training in Those Future Modules to School District Parent Program staff.

Provide Parental Involvement Training to School District Parent Program and Other Faculty.

Strategize with School District Parent Program staff to discover creative new ways to increase Parental Involvement in the School.

Research and share the most current Best Practices in Increasing Parental Engagement and Involvement in Their Child’s Education and School.

Seek out new resources available for schools and parents, which provide creative fresh opportunities to support and guide their students in planing and preparing for Post-secondary education.

Attend, when available and requested, School District Parent Involvement Meetings.

Coordinate Parent Program meetings for the UW GEAR UP School District Partners.

Coordinate Parent/Student Leadership Conference and Campus Visits.

All services will be provided at the request of UW GEAR UP School District Partners. Additional services may be provided if requested, subject to availability.
