Program Overview

Safe Haven is a community center located inToppenish Washington.We are here to serve the local community and provide a variety of programs that promote growth through a wide range of recreational, educational, technological, and cultural activities for individuals or groups.
Safe Haven’s Vision is to educate and nurture local community members, while inspiring them to become productive, caring leaders who strive to revitalize their community. The center is committed to maintaining a drug free, violence free, and weapons free environment while promoting cultural diversity, respect, and teamwork.

Program Information

21st Century Afterschool Program

Safe Haven Provides an after school and summer program through 21st Century for 6th grade through 12th grade students. Activities include STEM, Arts & Creativity, Health & Nutrition, among other choices. Assistance is also available for youth that may need help with schoolwork.

Eligibility: School Registered 6th through 12th grade students

Computer Lab

Safe Haven has 20 computers with internet access available for the community. Computers may be used for research, school work, employment search, among other tasks.  Anyone interested in using a computer must sign an internet user agreement

Eligibility: Signed Internet User Agreement

A group of Senior Citizens gather weekly for a variety of activities. Monthly activities include: an outing to visit various sites throughout the Yakima Valley, presentations by guest speakers, a pot luck and bingo. All activities are planned by the group.

Citizenship Classes

In partnership with Casa Hogar, Safe Haven offers classes for permanent legal US residents to become US Citizens. Classes meet twice weekly from 5:30pm to 7:00pm for 8 weeks. Persons interested must be a legal permanent US resident. See eligibility requirements.

Eligibility: 5 year Legal Permanent US residentor 3 year Legal permanent US resident who is married to a US Citizen
Fees:  Registration Fee applies.

English as a Second Language classes

Safe Haven Community Center provides 8 week sessions of English as a Second Language classes. The classes are open to the public and free of charge. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday: A beginners’ class is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and an intermediate class is from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. All students must take an assessment before being placed in a class.
